TO BECOME LIKE JESUS AND EXPAND HIS KINGDOM
We are a group of students who want to understand what Sonship is really all about. Not content to know a lot, we want to love a lot. We want to be transformed by Jesus, and settling for less seems like it’s maybe a waste of time. We have a lot of fun, but we have a purpose with it. We’re chasing Jesus into the Abundant Life He promised.
Parents, you are the real heroes of youth ministry. You are the ones who are the most invested in the lives of your children. Because of that, we want to take our cues from you. Let us be a support to you and the ministry you provide at home!
Between books and podcasts and videos and more, I would love to get resources into your hands that might help you in the wild adventure that is parenting.

Every day we have the option of choosing whether or not to pursue, above all else, the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt 6:33). As a group, we’re trying to make surrender to Jesus a habit. We do that a few ways. We hope prayer is a primary part of our students lives, and we encourage worship. But one other thing we make a priority is to get into the Word on a regular basis. Here are a few resources to help you with that!
Every year, leading up to Lent, we participate in a 40 day journey together. Below is our 2018 journey. Check it out starting on Valentine’s Day 2018, or any day, honestly.
LIFECHURCH.TV Bible App
One tool we really appreciate is the LifeChurch.tv Bible App. It’s
available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, etc. It’s an awesome tool
with great options as far as reading plans go.
Get the Bible App!
Another daily Bible Reading option is available through the group we go
to camp with. Skopos.org has put together an exhaustive 9 month plan
that aims to prepare you to know how to study the Bible on your own at
the end of the process, no tools necessary. It’s worth checking out. (used with permission)
Five Minute Journal
Finally, I’ve created a download for you to process through your day. It
asks some hard questions that help you to be transformed into the image
of Jesus. You can find the PDF journal’s downloadable link below or you
can purchase the book at cost, a book with 100 days of journal pages in
it as well.
Hard Copy(at cost)
On Sunday mornings (9:45-10:45a) we gather in the Youth Room to wrestle with the Word. We’ve done things like bringing in an art teacher to spin pottery, made homemade kites from trash bags, and much else…all aimed at helping us understand Who the Bible is trying to reveal to us. We need participation, and we want your voice to be a part of the discussion!
Each Wednesday night (6:00-7:45p) we gather together to focus on cementing two core truths: First, our true identity is who we are in Christ, period. The second, is that our aim is being transformed into the image of Christ. We do this through worship, through games, through intentional teaching games, through small group discussions, and through study of the Word. Come and see!
Whenever there are five Wednesdays in a given month, the fifth is big deal. We will order pizza and have other snacks if we can invite FIVE new people to group. This happens about once a quarter, and we’ve done things like ColorWars, Goldfish Races, CoffeeShops, Nerf Wars, and more. Dont miss a Fifth Wednesday!
Every year we have a few main events that we look forward to. We are intentional to get away, even if it’s locally, for a chance to rest, refresh ourselves, and renew our passion and desire to follow after Jesus.
Here are a few current annual traditions we hold onto:
Winter – Retreat
Each Winter we rent a house in Branson and get away for a weekend. It’s a time to refocus, hang out, and become a bit more of a family.
Spring – Canoe Trip
Over Memorial Day weekend, we’ll canoe and camp along the Buffalo River. We’ll cook together, worship together, pray together, joke together. It will be a weekend you wont want to miss.
Summer – Falls Creek
Every year in July we head to Davis, OK for Falls Creek Summer Camp. It’s an incredible week of teaching, worship, and fun. Cost is $200 every year, with scholarship help available.
Fall – 30 Hour Famine
Every year, this lock-in looks different. Some years we go without food. Some years we cook tons of food for families in our church. Regardless, it’s a fun and memorable weekend.
