Bella Vista Baptist Church desires to lead generations to passionately follow Christ in Northwest Arkansas and Southwest Missouri. We are looking for an Associate Pastor with an emphasis on Family Ministry to join us in our mission.
Ministry Description
What you'll be doing:
- Providing pastoral care to the church alongside the senior pastor.
- Preaching on Sunday mornings when requested by the senior pastor.
- Overseeing ministries for children and teens.
- Teaching regularly on Wednesday evenings.
- Developing and executing a discipleship plan for children, youth, and their families.
- Planning and assisting in the execution of special events for children, youth, and their families.
- Providing Biblical counsel.
- Participating in the church’s mission vision to reach Northwest Arkansas, North America, and the world.
What you need to have:
- A vibrant growing relationship with Jesus.
- Meet qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
- A commitment to Scripture as the authoritative and sufficient Word of God.
- Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as amended.
- A deep desire to make disciples.
- The ability to provide clear and caring leadership.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A passion to help Bella Vista Baptist Church reach our city and the growing Northwest Arkansas metropolitan area with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Who We Are
Our City
Bella Vista Baptist Church is in Bella Vista, Arkansas, the northern most city in the NWA metropolitan area. We are three hours from Kansas City, MO to our north, three hours from Little Rock, AR to our south, and two hours from Tulsa, OK to our west. At one time a retirement community, our city is booming in population growth along with the rest of NWA, attracting many young families.
What's the attraction? Bella Vista is home to more than 56 trails covering 160 miles for walking, hiking or biking; seven lakes for fishing, kayaking, and boating; and seven golf courses. We are minutes away from Bentonville and Rogers where you’ll find lots of activities for children, a world renown museum, the AMP outdoor music venue, shopping, restaurants, and more. And, if you like sports, there's the Arkansas Naturals minor league baseball team in Springdale and SEC college athletics at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Our History and Present
Bella Vista Baptist Church was launched in June 1972 as a mission of First Baptist Bentonville to share the gospel with what was then Bella Vista Village, a retirement area. Since its establishment, the church has had a vision to reach NWA, North America, and the world with the gospel as a church and through partnerships with the Northwest Baptist Association, Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Much has changed since 1972, but the church's mission remains the same - to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and lead generations to become passionate followers of Christ. Our children and youth have Sunday School and midweek ministries, summer VBS, and have participated in various camps and conferences. We are presently launching a new Adult Ministry to promote discipleship and fellowship among younger families. As a church, we are engaged in local outreach and compassion ministries, support of and participation in Arkansas Baptist mission efforts, and partnerships with NAMB and IMB. The church's mission team is currently exploring partnerships with NAMB church planters.

Our Senior Pastor
Brent Summerhill has served Bella Vista Baptist Church since November 2019. Brent is a Fort Smith native and Cindy is from Sherwood. They are both lifetime Arkansans. They have been married since December 1986. Cindy is an avid hiker and Brent tags along when he can. They have two children, a daughter and a son, who are both married. They also have two three-year-old granddaughters who have completely changed their lives. And they have Maggie, a four-year-old golden-doodle, who can't get enough treats.
Brent has been pastoring since 1991. Before coming to Bella Vista, he served a church in Cabot, Arkansas for 23 years and a church in Magnolia, Arkansas for five years. Brent is committed to text-driven, expositional preaching, discipleship, and caring for the flock the Lord has graciously given him. He and Cindy love the church and enjoy living in NWA.
